Your production coordinator
in Yemen
It could be difficult to find the right journalist fixer in Yemen, as the U.S. Department of State website has listed Yemen as a level 4 – Do not travel risk. Therefore, you should go for the best. We have experience arranging (remote) interviews for reputable journalists. The current state of affairs makes the job of any production coordinator in Yemen all the more difficult, but you can always count on Fixer Yemen to work with you in the locations below, and more!

Sana’a
The old, walled city of Sana’a contains a wealth of intact architectural gems our location scout can uncover for you. In the 7th and 8th centuries, the city became a major center for the propagation of Islam. This religious and political heritage is visible in the 103 mosques, 14 hammams, and over 6,000 houses, all built before the 11th century. Our production coordinator in Yemen believes Sana’a’s many-storied tower houses built of rammed earth (pisé) add to the beauty of the site.
Hadda Mountain
Jebel Hadda is a mountain in Sana’a, Yemen. It is located at an elevation of 3,187 meters above sea level. Its name means tranquil in Arabic. Our production coordinator in Yemen remembers fondly how tourists used to scale it. They would take in picturesque villages dotted with orchards growing apricots, peaches, walnuts, and almonds. For the time being, you can count on us to show you around the location via our scouting services, as well as manage your shooting here.

Aden
The port was first mentioned in historical records in the Old Testament, the Book of Ezekiel as a trading partner with Tyre. Crater, the oldest part of the city, lies in the crater of an extinct volcano. This is where the most ancient constructions in Aden may be seen. From here, you can get to Socotra Island, a paradise of pristine nature. Our journalist fixer would love to help you document a popular activity for women here – having their hands painted with henna by local women.
Raymah
Before the current conflict, Raymah was considered one of the most rural and agriculturally focused governorates in Yemen. Our location scout knows its many mountainous villages by heart. They will tell you how, at first glance, you might think they are close together. However, you will discover that you sometimes have to go down and up mountains to get to the next one. The trip is worth it, however, with the sun rays peeking through the mist at the mountain tops.

Al Mahwit
Our location scouting discovered the old town of Al-Mahwit, situated around a mountain fortress. The area and surrounding governorate depend on agriculture, mainly the production of coffee, tobacco, corn, sorghum, and qat. The latter is a flowering plant native to eastern and southern Africa. It contains the alkaloid cathinone, a stimulant, which is said to cause euphoria. Our production coordinator in Yemen let us know that khat chewing has a history as a social custom dating back thousands of years.
Hiring a location scout in Yemen
Modern-day Yemen used to be the flourishing kingdom on Saba/Sheba, best known today from the biblical narrative. Saba was a wealthy kingdom that grew rich through trade along the Incense Routes between southern Arabia and the port of Gaza on the Mediterranean Sea. The famous queen is said to have come to Jerusalem “with a very great retinue, with camels bearing spices, and very much gold, and precious stones”.
She came to King Solomon, “to prove him with hard questions”, which he answered to her satisfaction. They exchanged gifts, after which she returned to her land. Nowadays, it is dangerous to travel to Yemen. However, you should not let that cancel your shooting here. Our production coordinator in Yemen can synchronize with you and you can lead the filming remotely, in one of the locations above or others. Our scouting can find you tailored locations in Yemen, according to your needs.
